ARRIVAL

What to expect when coming in person

When you arrive, drive up through the wooden gates and park on the gravel drive. Please wait in your vehicle until your appointment. There is a wide, sloping path up towards the front door of my house; my clinic door will be on your left.

My clinic is in the front part of my home and you may hear my dogs, but they will be shut away. If you are allergic to dogs, please let me know so that we can arrange a alternative choice for your appointment.

Please bring with you a list of any medications you are taking, with the dosage that you use, as well as information about any recent dental treatment. Also include information about any natural remedies, herbs, supplements or complementary treatments you are using regularly.

My husband, Andrew, is a Professional Coach (andrewmrichards.com) and also works online from home, from a different part of the property.

CONSULTATION

What to expect from your appointment

Your first consultation will last between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on your personal history of illness. The number of appointments you need will depend on how long you have experienced your symptoms; a long-standing chronic condition is likely to require a course of treatment. Most patients find that an appointment once a month for 3 to 4 months is sufficient, occasionally less. Where further follow-ups are needed, they are often at progressively longer intervals.

Each person receives an individualised treatment strategy. Homeopathic remedies treat symptoms; when the symptoms are gone, you no longer need a remedy. Some patients find they do well with a short course, whereas some patients return after long intervals as needed.

I will post your medicine to you within a couple of days of your appointment; local patients can collect it from Plum Tree House. If I need to order something special in for you it can take a little longer, but you should receive it within a week of your appointment. You will receive clear instructions on how to take what I have prescribed to you. You will be able to contact me via WhatsApp or email with any changes you are experiencing and updates on your progress in between appointments so that we can use this information to inform your next appointment or we can adjust your treatment if appropriate.

I will email you several new patient forms to complete and return to me either by email or post, before your appointment. Payment will be via BACS in advance of your appointment.

This time is all about you; a safe, confidential place for you to explore how you feel both emotionally and physically about your ill-health. I will ask you about yourself, what you most want to improve, and why. I will write down your answers, as they influence the homeopathic remedy you need. It may seem as if I ask you some strange questions; your likes, dislikes, hobbies, a variety of things which will tell me about you as an individual and will direct the course of your treatment.

You may feel when you return to your follow-up appointment that you feel the same or have nothing to report. However, as I ask you about your original symptoms, you may tell me that things have changed or that you don’t experience some of them any more. What can seem like an unbearable, life restricting symptom can fall away unnoticed as your remedy takes effect. If nothing has changed, it may be that you need longer to respond to your remedy, or that I need to adjust or change it. Your treatment will be led by your response.

MY COMMITMENT

My commitment to you

I will do my best to help you, responding to the needs of your ill health with homeopathy, changing your medicine if needed to an increased strength or a different remedy. I will use books, homeopathic software and my own experience, to choose the treatment you need.

Attending seminars and webinars in Homeopathy is important to me; I keep up to date with new developments in the homeopathic and health communities. I travel abroad as well as within the UK to learn from great teachers and constantly learning new and exciting information which stimulates and challenges my practice. I choose to be part of the Society of Homeopaths as I believe in being part of a professional community which works to high standards and policies.

Within my voluntary role as Vice-Chair of the Tilian Partnership Multi Academy Trust Board in Suffolk, I have a particular interest in Safeguarding and Mental Health and Wellbeing. I have found that this can inform my homeopathic practice.
